Archdiocese of Washington recently shared with us its deep sadness over Bishop Francisco Gonzalez’s untimely passing, on March 4, 2024 at age 84. Bishop Gonzalez had become revered throughout Washington D.C. due to his tremendous devotion and service, yet ultimately passed away peacefully within Barcelona’s Congregation of Sons of Holy Family as his final resting place – further evidence of his life-long dedication and service in keeping faith alive throughout Spain and America.
Who Was Bishop Gonzalez?
Bishop Francisco Gonzalez was an embodiment of spiritual depth and dedication. Since being ordained into priesthood nearly 60 years ago, he had spent his life serving God and the Catholic Church with unwavering devotion, touching many hearts along the way. In 2001 he accepted an appointment as an auxiliary bishop with humility and wisdom before finally retiring in 2014. As Bishop Gonzalez guided and led faithful, they looked up to his wise counsel with admiration and reverence.
