Marvin Lee Stewart Sr. was revered within Evansville, Indiana community until his passing at age 97 on February 26, 2024. Born to Rastus and Connie Stewart (Lyle), Marvin lived a life full of kindness, resilience, and perseverance that touched thousands throughout Evansville & Evansville Indiana communities he passed through during his remarkable 97-year life span. Marvin illuminated all those lucky enough to cross his path; from family, friends to anyone lucky enough to experience his gentle soul’s warmth he illuminated all lives he touched along his path he illuminated all who passed him by.

Marvin Stewart found strength and solace through the presence of many in his life journey, including Christine Stewart (deceased), Hattie “Jo” Stewart and his daughter Diane Barnes. Although these loved ones may no longer be with us, Marvin found solace within his remaining family: Elviria Christine Demetro, Marvin Stewart Jr and Wilford Stewart as well as Tom Barnes continue his legacy with great familial affection and civic service.
Marvin left an incredible legacy that transcended his immediate family – touching 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews through love and support he showed to all he met – making them feel that each interaction with him held special meaning to him personally and creating memories which live on. Recognizing Marvin’s profound legacy, visitation services will be held on March 8th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and March 9th from 12 noon to 1 PM respectively at Alexander East Chapel in Evansville Indiana. These gatherings provide an opportunity for those who knew Marvin to come together, share memories and pay their respects to someone whose life exemplified unconditional love and unflagging support.
At the height of this period of mourning will be Marvin’s funeral service on Saturday March 9th 2024 at 1:00PM; designed to remember and honour both his remarkable life and influence on those he touched throughout his lifetime. Friends and family can come together and remember all the ways Marvin enhanced their lives during this service.
